Principal Structural Engineer

Overview

As Principal Structural Engineer in Arcadis’ Places Design Practice, you lead the structural design and coordination across varied projects, guiding technical and commercial delivery. You will mentor teams, interface with clients, and uphold safety and quality standards while advancing sustainable solutions. The role sits within a multidisciplinary environment delivering iconic structures for industrial, educational, and public sectors. You help shape projects from concept to delivery and contribute to Arcadis’ mission of improving quality of life.

Responsibilities

• Lead design and coordination of structural works across diverse projects
• Manage technical and commercial aspects of projects and lead teams of engineers and BIM modellers
• Interface with clients and stakeholders to align expectations and deliverables
• Contribute to technical quality processes by validating work of team members
• Mentor engineers and colleagues within projects and broader teams

Key requirements

• Relevant degree
• Chartered membership of IStructE or ICE (preferred)
• Existing SC clearance or eligibility to achieve SC clearance
• Strong technical ability in structural principles developed through varied project experience
• Familiarity with commonly used structural materials and on-site considerations
• Knowledge of structural analysis and design programs
• Commitment to health and safety and knowledge of legal requirements
• Excellent communication skills and experience preparing technical reports
• Attention to detail and ability to review others’ work for quality
• Interest in sustainable solutions and outcomes
• Ability to manage teams and resources on projects
• Willingness to share knowledge and mentor others
