Jackson Hogg is delighted to be supporting a leading engineering and manufacturing business in the search for a Commercial Estimator to join their team in Doncaster.
This is an excellent opportunity for an estimator with a manufacturing, engineering or fabrication background who is looking to further develop their career within a technically focused commercial environment. We’re particularly interested in speaking with candidates who can interpret technical drawings, understand manufacturing processes and produce accurate commercial costings.
The Role
As Commercial Estimator, you’ll play a key role in supporting the commercial and manufacturing functions by producing accurate quotations, costings, bids and tenders. Working closely with engineering, production and commercial teams, you’ll ensure customer requirements are translated into commercially viable manufacturing solutions.
You will be involved in building manufacturing costs, reviewing commercial data, supporting continuous improvement initiatives and helping drive efficiency across the estimating process. The business is also undergoing an exciting transition to a new MRP/ERP system, providing an opportunity to contribute to ongoing process improvements.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare accurate quotations, estimates, bids and tenders.
- Interpret technical drawings and specifications to generate manufacturing costings.
- Work closely with engineering, production and commercial teams to support customer requirements.
- Develop and maintain costing models and estimating processes.
- Review manufacturing costs and identify opportunities for improved efficiency.
- Support contract reviews and wider commercial activities.
- Analyse costs, sales and operational data to support decision-making and business performance improvements.
- Assist with forecasting, planning and continuous improvement initiatives.
About You
We’re keen to speak with candidates who have:
- 2-3 years’ experience in an estimating, costing or commercial role.
- A background within manufacturing, engineering or fabrication.
- The ability to read and interpret technical drawings.
- Strong numerical and analytical skills.
- Good Excel and Microsoft Office capability.
- Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively across multiple departments.
- A proactive attitude and desire to learn and develop.
