Quality Engineer (Civils)
Location: Suffolk | Site Based in Leiston

The opportunity:
Join the Sizewell C (SZC) team and play a key role in one of the UK’s largest infrastructure projects.
As a Quality Engineer, you’ll help ensure quality requirements are met across the project lifecycle, from design and procurement through to construction, commissioning and close-out. You’ll work closely with project teams, contractors and suppliers to deliver work safely, efficiently and Right First Time.
What you’ll do:
- Develop and maintain project Quality Assurance and Quality Control arrangements.
- Support Project Quality Control Plans and quality requirements within contracts and procurement activities.
- Review and monitor contractor Quality Assurance Plans and Inspection & Test Plans.
- Support supplier audits, inspections and surveillance activities using a risk-based approach.
- Monitor and help resolve non-conformances, corrective actions and quality issues.
- Support the management and review of Lifetime Quality Records (LTQRs) and other quality documentation.
- Work closely with contractors, suppliers, inspection bodies and internal stakeholders to maintain effective quality arrangements.
- Identify and escalate quality risks and support timely resolution.
- Provide quality expertise to multi-disciplinary teams and promote continuous improvement.
- Monitor and report quality performance and support delivery of project quality objectives.
What you’ll bring:
Essential
- HNC/HND or degree in a relevant engineering, science or equivalent discipline.
- Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control within nuclear, engineering, construction or another safety-critical industry.
- Strong understanding of quality management across engineering, procurement, manufacturing, construction and commissioning.
- Knowledge of quality management systems and standards, including ISO 9001 and ISO 19443.
- Experience working with suppliers and conducting supplier audits.
- Strong analytical, problem-solving and reporting skills.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder-management skills.
- Ability to provide constructive challenge and influence others.
- Experience delivering practical quality solutions in complex project environments.
- Confident use of IT and digital systems.
Desirable
- Nuclear new-build experience and knowledge of nuclear site licence conditions.
- IRCA-certified auditor or relevant professional accreditation.
- Membership of, or progress towards membership of, the Chartered Quality Institute (CQI).
- Experience working with regulators such as the Office for Nuclear Regulation (ONR).
- Knowledge of nuclear/pressure codes, welding, NDT/NDE or Lean Six Sigma.
- Commercial or supplier-management experience.
- French language skills.
