Senior Civil Site Engineer

Overview

In this role you lead on-site civil engineering delivery for large-scale water infrastructure projects, ensuring work aligns with drawings, specs and standards. You manage engineering teams, coordinate survey and setting-out, and resolve design and site condition discrepancies. You will produce technical records, oversee safety and handover documentation, and support assurance reviews. This position offers impact through hands-on delivery and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Lead the full site engineering function (setting out, dimensional control, surveying)
• Manage engineering teams to ensure accurate execution of works
• Validate primary control and resolve design/site discrepancies
• Oversee installation activities in compliance with drawings and standards
• Maintain and calibrate survey/setting-out equipment
• Produce sketches, calculations and engineering records for construction
• Ensure drawing registers and technical documentation are controlled
• Lead as-built surveys, red-line drawings, and handover documentation
• Conduct quality inspections and close NCRs with a right-first-time approach
• Support Technical Assurance reviews for design compliance and correct installation
• Prepare and implement Safe Systems of Work (RAMS) and Permits to Work
• Act as or support Temporary Works Coordinator ensuring procedure compliance
• Track progress via measurement, quantity reporting and installation verification
• Collaborate with Project Managers, Designers, Supply Chain, Supervisors on delivery and handover data

Key requirements

• HNC/HND or Degree in Civil Engineering
• Professional Accreditation (e.g. ICE) or working towards
• Experience leading engineering delivery on civil projects
• Experience across earthworks, drainage, structures, highways, utilities or water infrastructure
• Strong understanding of CDM and construction safety principles
• SMSTS or IOSH Managing Safely
• CSCS
• Full UK driving license
• Temporary Works Coordinator (TWC) or working towards
