Overview
As a German-speaking Principal/Associate Project Manager in Ramboll’s UK Transport team, you lead project and programme management for a diverse transport portfolio. You coordinate multidisciplinary teams, manage client relationships, and steer complex schemes from inception to completion to support sustainable mobility. You’ll work across the UK, Ireland and Europe, engaging with German-speaking clients and integrating with global project management standards. Flexible working and travel enable impactful delivery.

Responsibilities
- Ensure successful project delivery from inception through completion, enforcing scope, contracts, budgets and QA
- Oversee production of technical and commercial specifications, drawings and schedules aligned with services scope
- Guide design process via workshops and meetings; provide PM support on larger schemes
- Prepare and distribute monthly reports, meeting minutes, and programmes; deliver presentations as needed
- Coordinate with planning teams for programme updates (Primavera P6) and risk management workshops
- Manage sub-consultants and ensure timely, accurate fee submissions for prompt payment
- Control project change to meet client satisfaction and manage bid teams for multi-disciplinary tenders
- Develop strong relationships with clients, contractors, internal teams, and authorities
Key requirements
- Fluent in German (spoken and written)
- Minimum HNC/HND in Civil Engineering or related discipline; degree preferred
- Professional membership in construction-focused association (e.g., APM, ICE) or plan to achieve within timeframe
- Experience with health and safety legislation (CDM)
- Knowledge of procurement methods and contract administration (NEC, JCT, ACE, ICE, GC Works, FIDIC)
- Excellent communication and IT skills
- Experience in construction industry project management, preferably in multidisciplinary design consultancy
- Bid management experience for multi-disciplinary opportunities
- Experience with construction and design processes
- Ability to write high-quality reports and interrogate financial information
- Ability to manage multiple stakeholders across geographies and prioritise work
- Experience with MS Project and MS PowerPoint; Primavera P6 familiarity
