Overview
In this role you will provide expert mental health pharmaceutical care across inpatient and community settings, promoting safe, cost-effective, evidence-based prescribing. You’ll work within multidisciplinary teams to deliver high-quality clinical pharmacy services, support medicines optimisation, and participate in on-call commitments to improve patient outcomes across the Trust. Your work will focus on reducing medicines-related harm and advancing pharmacy services through teaching, trials, and continuous professional development.
Responsibilities
- Deliver safe, effective use of medicines across the Trust with a focus on mental health
- Provide high-level clinical pharmacy services to allocated teams and support medicines optimisation
- Undertake specialist mental health medication reviews and advise on treatment management
- Advise on prescribing, ensure accuracy of prescriptions, and comply with legal/regulatory requirements
- Utilise electronic prescribing and medicines administration systems (EPMA) and related data systems
- Contribute to medicines-related SOPs and support multidisciplinary teams to standardise practices
- Participate in data collection, audits, clinical trials, and regulatory compliance activities
- Act as a deputy for senior pharmacists when required and support training of junior staff
- Work flexibly across locations, including on-call, weekends, and bank holidays
Key requirements
- MPharm or equivalent
- Current General Pharmaceutical Council registration
- Post-registration qualification in Mental Health Pharmacy or Clinical Pharmacy (or working towards it)
- Significant post-registration clinical pharmacy experience
- Ability to work in multidisciplinary teams and travel across the Trust
