Senior Mental Health Practitioner -Hillingdon CAMHS MHST

Overview

In this role you join the Green Paper Transforming children and young people’s mental health programme within the MHST. You deliver short-term, evidence-based interventions to young people and their families in education settings, supporting schools to embed a whole-school approach. You collaborate with educators, clinicians and external services to ensure timely, suitable care and enable young people to stay in education. You will work across diverse communities with an emphasis on equal opportunities and safeguarding.

Responsibilities

• Form strong working relationships with stakeholders
• Partner with schools and educational settings to embed wellbeing approaches
• Provide training to team members and supervise junior staff
• Deliver time-limited, evidence-based interventions (CYP IAPT aligned) for children and young people
• Maintain thorough assessments, risk assessments, care plans and reviews
• Ensure high-quality documentation and Routine Outcome Measures
• Evidence MHST outcomes and report to key stakeholders
• Provide clinical supervision to Education Mental Health Practitioners and supervise Trainee EMHPs
• Contribute to group supervision and service development in the Harrow area
• Raise safeguarding concerns and support colleagues in safeguarding processes
• Support and develop MHST interventions within education and SEN settings
• Maintain safety, record-keeping, and mandatory training compliance
• Escalate safety concerns and advocate for service users

Key requirements

• Degree level professional qualification in Mental Health Nursing, Social Work, Occupational Therapy, Art Therapy, Drama Therapy, Music Therapy, or LD Nursing; or substantial consolidated EMHP or CWP experience
• Registered with a relevant professional body
• Essential experience in child and adolescent mental health; multidisciplinary or multi-agency working
• Understanding of CAMHS services, safeguarding policies, and related legislation
• Able to travel to meet post requirements
• Desirable CBT training or CYP-IAPT specific training
• Desirable experience delivering CBT groups or training
• Desirable knowledge of mental health promotion in schools
