Commodity Buyer

Overview

In this role you will own a specialist commodity area within a forward‑looking manufacturing business. You will manage supplier relationships and delivery commitments to support production needs. You will raise purchase orders, maintain procurement data in ERP systems, and seek cost‑effective yet quality‑driven procurement. You will collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering and Production to meet operational objectives and drive continuous improvement. Responsibilities

• Manage supplier performance and relationships
• Raise and manage purchase orders aligned to demand
• Ensure on-time delivery of materials and components
• Maintain procurement data within SAP/ERP systems
• Support cost‑effective procurement while upholding quality and service
• Collaborate with Supply Chain, Engineering and Production to meet objectives

Key requirements

• Experience in Buyer/Commodity Buyer/Purchasing/Procurement
• Industry experience in manufacturing, engineering, automotive, aerospace, marine, or technical sectors
• Strong supplier management and negotiation skills
• Experience using ERP systems and Excel
• Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications
• Excellent communication, commercial awareness, and problem‑solving abilities
• CIPS qualified or working towards qualification (desirable)
• Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast‑paced environment
