Overview
In this role, you support the GCIB function to strengthen internal controls across multiple regions and ensure efficient, compliant operations. You’ll work closely with Risk, Compliance, Audit, Finance, and other teams, coordinating testing and reporting to management. The role combines control testing, data reporting, and stakeholder engagement to underpin a robust control framework. You’ll operate in a collaborative, globally integrated environment that values development and cross‑functional impact.

Responsibilities
- Conduct first line control testing across GCIB EMEA operations and report findings to educate the business on internal controls
- Prepare materials for senior management reporting on control effectiveness and risk/issues
- Support projects, initiatives, and audits for GCIB and drive collaboration with wider business teams
- Oversee output of the First Line Controls team to align with GCIB EMEA objectives
- Update and maintain MI, dashboards, and control reports for accurate monitoring
- Develop understanding of GCIB core systems and procedures to assess control robustness
- Liaise with Risk, Compliance, Internal & External Audit, Finance, and other functions to improve practices
- Act as central contact point for control-related inquiries and stakeholder engagement
- Assist in developing new control tests and perform ad-hoc exercises as required
- Guide offshore teams and support project delivery within GCIB
- Contribute to strengthening internal control framework and ensure alignment with Bank policies and procedures
Key requirements
- Proven experience as an Associate in Business Management (First Line Controls) in a global banking environment
- Degree-level qualification or equivalent in Business Management
- Knowledge of banking products and front-to-back processes across multiple jurisdictions
- Strong written communication for senior management materials
- Advanced IT skills with ability to manage MI reports/dashboards under deadlines
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to high-quality work in a team
- Ability to collaborate with people at all levels and across regions
- Advanced Microsoft Office/IT skills, especially Excel and PowerPoint
- Preferred: knowledge of non-financial risk management in Corporate Investment Banking or experience in First Line Controls/Operational Risk/Internal Audit
