Community Perinatal Mental Health Practitioner

Overview

In this role you support women and families, focusing on perinatal mental health. You will be part of the NW Team at Unither House, working within a multidisciplinary group to assess and plan care for a defined caseload. You’ll lead nursing care for your caseload, mentor staff and students, and collaborate across services to ensure timely referrals and appropriate responses. The role offers strong training and development opportunities within perinatal care and mental health.

Responsibilities

• Manage a defined caseload and assess care needs under supervision
• Triage and assess referrals within set timescales across the service
• Coordinate urgent referrals within the acute care pathway and liaise with HTT, inpatient services and MBU
• Contribute to multidisciplinary assessments of community-perinatal mental health needs
• Provide mentorship, supervision, and teaching to qualified and unqualified staff and students
• Participate in service delivery planning to reflect local population priorities

Key requirements

• Degree in health/social care or equivalent qualification/experience
• Registered Mental Health Nurse, Occupational Therapist, or Social Worker
• Substantial experience managing a busy caseload or service users with mental health conditions
• Experience working in a multidisciplinary and multi-agency environment
• Desirable understanding of perinatal mental health difficulties
• Experience supervising junior and unqualified staff and mentoring students
