Senior Backend Software Engineer I – Personal & Business Pricing Team

Overview

As a Backend Software Engineer in the Personal & Business Pricing team, you will build and evolve pricing infrastructure that powers Wise’s product launches and promotions. You’ll collaborate with global product teams to enable new features while ensuring scalable, reliable, and secure services. You’ll influence architecture, drive reliability, and contribute to an observable, high-quality pricing platform that supports Wise’s growth and transparency.

• Starting salary: 87,500 – 111,000 + RSUs

Responsibilities

• Design and implement end-to-end features across pricing services
• Contribute to architecture decisions and code reviews to raise quality and observability
• Drive reliability and scalability initiatives for pricing services
• Collaborate with product, compliance and stakeholder teams to shape requirements and priorities

Key requirements

• Strong software engineering background with impactful projects in complex production domains
• Experience with Java or similar OOP language
• Ability to design for long-term iteration and scale
• Ownership of availability, reliability and security, following engineering best practices
• Ability to balance speed, scalability, and risk with regular delivery cadence
• Experience engaging with cross-functional teams to define requirements and priorities
• Proven incident ownership and post-incident review skills
• Mentoring and onboarding responsibilities for new joiners and team growth

• Clear communication with technical and non-technical audiences
• Collaborative mindset and ability to foster a supportive team environment
• Mentorship and coaching of engineers
