Mechanical Associate – Healthcare

Overview

In this Mechanical Associate role, you lead delivery of complex healthcare building services across the UK and internationally, combining hands-on engineering with team leadership and client engagement. You shape resilient, low‑carbon solutions and ensure high-quality digital delivery. You’ll work with cross‑functional teams on high-profile hospital projects and contribute to Ramboll’s chartership-supported development and sustainability agenda.

Responsibilities

• Lead mechanical design and delivery for healthcare projects from concept to handover
• Mentor and develop small-to-medium technical teams of engineers and technicians
• Oversee MEP coordination and BIM delivery using Revit/BIM 360 and tools like MagiCad and IES
• Produce and review design calculations, specs, and drawings to standards
• Serve as client-facing technical lead in meetings, presenting solutions and managing client relationships
• Manage project scope, resources, and delivery, identifying and mitigating technical and commercial risks
• Support business development with proposals and technical inputs
• Champion sustainability and zero-carbon design, QA, and continuous improvement
• Promote Ramboll’s profile through collaboration with multi-disciplinary and external partners

Key requirements

• Proven track record delivering mechanical building services on UK healthcare or high-resilience projects
• Experience leading project teams or technical workstreams
• Degree in mechanical/building services engineering or related discipline
• Eligibility for or progress towards MCIBSE/MIMechE/MIHEEM membership (chartership support provided)
• Strong Revit/BIM 360 capability and familiarity with MEP tools (e.g., MagiCad, IES)
• Excellent project management skills with ability to manage multiple projects and risks
• Clear communicator able to explain complex concepts to clients and teams
• Self-starter capable of autonomous technical work while building client relationships
