Health and Safety Manager

Overview

In this Health & Safety Manager role, you will lead SHEQ across Equans’ regional operations in the West Midlands, ensuring compliance with statutory safety and environmental requirements. You’ll partner with multisite FM teams to embed the SHEQ culture and drive improvement across contracts. You’ll deliver data‑driven safety solutions, audits, and incident investigations that reduce risk and support responsible business initiatives. This role offers hybrid working, a strong focus on leadership and training, and opportunities to influence safety practices at scale.

Responsibilities

• Oversee regional SHEQ management to meet internal and external standards
• Record and coach on Near Misses, Accidents, RIDDORs, and other safety data across contracts
• Create contract-level SHEQ Action Plans with Directors/Managers to improve safety and engagement
• Respond to SHEQ audit findings by guiding sites and refining tools, processes and systems
• Mentor Safety Ambassadors and promote the company values across sites
• Ensure Training Matrix/LMS coverage for all colleagues with appropriate safety training
• Lead investigations and provide detailed root-cause reports and recommendations
• Close out incidents and present action plans to Accident Incident Review boards
• Provide data-led reporting via Power BI and feedback on additional reporting needs
• Drive continuous improvement and innovative safety solutions across the division and UKBU

Key requirements

• Previous health and safety experience in construction, energy, FM or related industries
• Knowledge of construction, energy, and FM technology and methods
• Demonstrable experience with SHEQ legislation
• NEBOSH National Diploma or equivalent (or Level 5/6 equivalents) in Occupational Health and Safety
