Senior Network Engineer

Overview

In this Senior Network Engineer role you will own the operational management of NHS North East London ICB networks across multiple sites, applying deep hands-on expertise to ensure reliable, secure connectivity. You will mentor juniors, communicate complex topics to non-technical audiences, and lead ITIL processes when needed, contributing to a high-performing, cross-functional IT team. You will work on diverse technologies at scale and support the Out of Hospital Strategy through strong networking and collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Maintain relationships with a broad range of stakeholders at all levels, including corporate ICB colleagues and partners
• Participate in internal/external groups and projects to provide expert advisory support
• Share best practices with managers and peers
• Develop clear communications for key messages to stakeholders, including senior leaders
• Deliver compelling presentations and convey complex concepts effectively
• Provide leadership in ITIL processes such as Change Management, Major Incident Management and Problem Management when required
• Mentor junior staff and offer technical guidance to peers

Key requirements

• Educated to degree level in relevant subject or equivalent level qualification or significant experience in a similar role
• Cisco / Fortinet Routing and Switching Certification (CCNP / NSE4)
• Experience in Operational Management of Cisco and Fortinet Network Infrastructure
• Significant experience with Cisco and Fortinet hardware/tech stack
• Experience with enterprise Firewalls as part of an SD-WAN
• Experience with Cisco ACI hardware and technology stack
• Experience managing a corporate data center and related technologies
• Complex configuration, administration, planning, design and management of network infrastructure and security (Routers, Firewalls with IPS/IDS, Switches, Wi‑Fi, NAC WAN, SD-WAN, Remote Access, Licensing)
• Experience integrating on-prem networks with Azure
• Experience coordinating projects in complex environments and managing risks and reporting
• Powershell / Python scripting
• Extensive knowledge of Azure networking services
• Extensive knowledge of Fortinet technologies
