Mechanical Field Service Engineer

Overview

In this role you will service and install manufacturing machinery across Devon and Cornwall, ensuring safe and efficient operation. You will work on-site at food factories and production facilities, performing installation, fault-finding, and both planned and reactive maintenance. You’ll collaborate with customers while traveling to multiple sites, delivering hands-on mechanical solutions. This position combines fieldwork with hands-on repair, enabling you to influence machine reliability and food production safety. Responsibilities

• Install and commission machinery and equipment
• Diagnose faults and carry out repairs
• Plan and perform preventive and reactive maintenance
• Service and maintain manufacturing machinery
• Operate in food manufacturing environments
• Interact with customers on-site
• Ensure machinery operates safely and efficiently
• Travel across Devon and Cornwall to customer sites

Key requirements

• Previous experience as Mechanical Engineer, Mechanical fitter, Field Service Engineer or similar
• Experience with machinery in manufacturing, production or food manufacturing environments
• Strong mechanical fault-finding and repair skills
• Experience with machinery installation and maintenance
• Ability to work independently and manage workload
• Own tools
• Full UK driving licence
• Willingness to travel throughout Devon and Cornwall
• Level 2 Food Safety/Food Hygiene Certificate or willingness to complete training
