Senior Capital Projects Manager – Construction/Refurbishment

Overview

In this role you will lead a portfolio of capital projects within the Trust’s capital programme, guiding them from feasibility to handover. You will shape business cases, oversee planning and delivery, ensuring safety, quality and value for money. You will work with clinicians, managers, contractors and external agencies to deliver substantial healthcare estates projects aligned with sustainability and regulatory standards. Responsibilities

• Lead and manage complex capital projects from feasibility through to completion
• Develop robust business cases and funding submissions
• Oversee planning, procurement, design development, tendering, construction, commissioning and handover
• Manage budgets, monitor performance, mitigate risks and ensure value for money
• Provide professional advice on technical, financial and contractual matters
• Lead multidisciplinary teams and manage external consultants/contractors
• Ensure compliance with NHS guidance, Building Regulations, HTMs/HBNs and health & safety standards
• Prepare complex reports, option appraisals and governance documentation
• Coordinate works in live hospital environments to minimise disruption
• Support development of capital strategies and continuous improvement initiatives

Key requirements

• Extensive knowledge of estates, construction and healthcare infrastructure project delivery
• Experience in business case development, project governance, procurement, contract management and financial management
• Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to engage senior clinicians, managers and contractors
• Experience managing multi-disciplinary teams and external consultants
• Proven ability to work autonomously within delegated authority and manage competing priorities
• Experience in healthcare project delivery and adherence to statutory requirements
• Ability to review technical specifications, designs and BIM information for compatibility with infrastructure
• Experience in contract management, tendering and final account settlement is desirable
• Strong IT skills including MS Office, project management software and EDMS
