Advanced Healthcare Scientist Neurophysiology

Overview

In this Band 7 role you will perform complex neurophysiology diagnostics and therapeutic procedures across ages and diverse specialties. You will work from multiple satellite clinics including Jersey, Channel Islands, adapting to learn new techniques and expanding capabilities. You will interpret results, report findings, and contribute to education and research within a supportive clinical team. You will lead and train staff, drive quality assurance, and participate in clinical trials and service development. This is a values-driven opportunity at a high-volume, research-aware NHS trust.

Responsibilities

• Communicate procedure details clearly to patients and carers to facilitate consent
• Demonstrate highly specialist knowledge and apply it to diagnostic interpretation
• Analyse and interpret neurophysiology test results to inform diagnosis
• Resolve complex equipment issues and plan workload/clinics independently
• Position patients and manage electrode setup with high hand/eye coordination
• Provide specialist clinical services and interpret screening tests to produce diagnostic results
• Develop and implement policies, standard operating procedures and area-wide improvements
• Supervise and train junior staff and registrars; lead a team in peripheral neurophysiology
• Ensure secure, governance-compliant data handling and backup
• Oversee equipment safety, calibration, and supply storage
• Lead research, clinical trials, service evaluation and audits
• Work autonomously across host department and Community Diagnostic Centres and non-NHS sites
• Maintain and develop skills across neurophysiology while leading specialist activity

Key requirements

• Masters Level Qualification or STP (essential)
• BSc certification with ANS professional exams in EEG/NCS/EP (essential)
• Registered or working towards AHCS or HCPC (essential)
• Minimum 4 years of clinical neurophysiology experience with at least 1 year post-qualification (essential)
• Experience in supervising staff and leading clinical teams (desirable)
