Senior Project Manager

Overview

As Senior Project Manager, you own the delivery of medium to large-scale, technically complex projects for ABB’s Energy Industries. You lead planning, execution, and overall performance, while building high-performing teams and ensuring quality, safety, compliance, and commercial targets. You collaborate across disciplines and with customers, suppliers, and stakeholders to maximise value and drive continuous improvement. This role supports ABB’s mission to innovate and decarbonize industrial operations at scale.

Responsibilities

• Lead delivery of complex projects from handover to completion with accountability for planning, execution, and performance
• Build and coach high-performing project teams and foster an enabling environment
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, and cash flow to meet commercial and operational objectives
• Serve as the primary point of contact for customers, suppliers, and stakeholders with strong communication across the lifecycle
• Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks while capitalising on opportunities to maximise value
• Ensure high standards of quality, governance, and contractual compliance
• Collaborate with Supply Chain and commercial teams for procurement and contract delivery
• Capture lessons learned and drive improvements to delivery methods and PMO standards
• Promote ABB’s values, Code of Conduct, and Health, Safety and Environment culture
• Adhere to hybrid working model from Daresbury or St Neots locations

Key requirements

• Significant experience in project management
• Proven track record of managing full project lifecycle (scope, schedule, cost, and vendor/subcontractor management)
• Strong collaboration and solution-oriented mindset with excellent written and verbal communication
• Demonstrated leadership with experience managing teams and influencing stakeholders at all levels
• Advanced planning, scheduling, and organizational skills
• Engineering or technical degree or recognised project management certification
• Commitment to professional development in project management
• Willingness to travel and engage with customers face to face
