Principal Software Developer (Web)

Overview

In this role you will own critical surfaces of FlexONE, our integrated Order Management and Execution Management System. You will drive end-to-end development across a Scala/Play backend and a React/AG-Grid frontend, with gRPC integration to core systems. You will shape a migration path from Codename One to a JS-based mobile framework and lead the evolution of the mobile app. You’ll mentor teammates, collaborate across teams, and help deliver a scalable, high-quality web and mobile experience aligned with customer needs.

Responsibilities

• Design and build robust features across the stack (Scala/Play backend, React/AG-Grid frontend)
• Define and execute mobile migration path from Codename One to a JS-based framework (likely React Native)
• Champion code quality, testing, observability, and performance
• Mentor engineers, assist with hiring and onboarding as the team scales
• Collaborate with the Desktop team to ensure feature parity and compatibility

Key requirements

• Deep full stack expertise
• Experience building and deploying production web apps with React and modern TypeScript
• Willingness to own the Scala backend (experience with Scala/Java helpful but not required)
• Mobile capability: experience building or maintaining cross-platform mobile apps
• Strong API/web/mobile architecture and good UX design
• Clear, pragmatic communication with engineers and non-engineers
