Civil Design Engineering Director (Consultancy)

As Civil Engineering Director, you will lead an established civil engineering team in Central London, steering technical delivery and project success. You will shape the civil offering, grow the pipeline, and maintain high standards in quality and client service. You’ll manage resources, mentor staff, and build strategic client relationships within a wider engineering group. The role offers autonomy to define the direction of the team and contribute to the firm’s growth in highways and drainage infrastructure. Responsibilities

• Lead, manage and develop the existing civil engineering team
• Oversee technical delivery, quality and standards across projects
• Manage resources, workloads and timely project delivery
• Develop and maintain strong client relationships
• Identify new business opportunities and contribute to business development strategy
• Mentor engineers and technicians
• Collaborate with senior leadership to shape the business direction
• Grow the civil engineering offering and expand areas of work
• Maintain high technical, commercial and client service standards

Key requirements

• 15+ years’ UK experience
• MEng in Civil Engineering (or equivalent)
• Chartered status with ICE (MICE) preferred
• Strong experience in below-ground drainage and highways design
• Experience with drainage and highways design software (PDS, Flow)
• Residential development experience; understanding of commercial delivery
• Experience obtaining highway and drainage approvals
• Proven track record leading technical teams and managing resources
• Strong client relationship and business development experience
• Commercially aware, proactive and collaborative approach
• Desire to develop and grow an established team
• London and South East experience and established network advantageous
