Consultant Radiologist specialist interest in head and neck imaging

Overview

You will join a sizable radiology team supporting Swansea and partners, with strong teaching and research linkages to Swansea University and related institutes. As part of a head and neck radiology group, you will contribute to a tertiary oncology service delivering complex imaging and interventions. The role involves on-call duties, rapid reporting of urgent cases, and active participation in MDTs to shape patient pathways. You will work across three sites with access to ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and CT guidance, plus a weekend on-call enhancement. This is a chance to impact clinical services while engaging in teaching, audit, and research in a dynamic academic-healthcare environment.

Responsibilities

• participate in the general on-call rota (1 in 17) covering inpatient scanning
• contribute to the hot-reporting rota for urgent in-patient CT reporting
• attend head and neck MDTs on a rota
• perform head and neck interventional procedures
• utilize ultrasound, fluoroscopy, and CT guidance across sites
• engage in weekend on-call sessions and potential changes to staffing
• support neuroradiology on-call rota and provide out-of-hours CT brain reporting assistance
• participate in teaching and supervision of trainees
• contribute to service development and improvement activities

Key requirements

• GMC registration
• FRCR
• On Specialist Register with GMC in Radiology or eligible for CCT within 6 months and pass exit exam or equivalent
• proven ability to work in multi-disciplinary teams

• ability to perform biopsies and FNAs
