Overview
In this role, you will support patients in urgent situations by guiding care and coordinating responses from the Emergency Operations Centre. You will work across emergency and non-emergency calls, collaborating with police, fire services, and healthcare professionals. The role blends training and hands-on call handling to deliver timely, critical information to crews and responders. Responsibilities
- Handle emergency and non-emergency calls from the public, police, and healthcare professionals
- Provide appropriate patient care guidance until ambulance arrival
- Coordinate information for patient transfers and inform agencies about incidents
- Support ambulance crews and dispatchers with situational information, especially during major incidents
- Participate in call handling assessments and ongoing rota-based mentorship
- Contribute to team leadership and coaching within the call centre
Key requirements
- GCSEs (5 A–C) including English, or NVQ Level 3 in a relevant subject
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in a patient/customer-focused environment
- IT literate
- Able to manage highly stressful situations and make sound decisions
- Desirable: experience in a call centre environment
- Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check requirements
- Flexibility to work shifts including unsocial hours
