Head of Emergency Planning, Resilience and Response

Overview

In this role you will provide strategic leadership for the Trust’s EPRR agenda, ensuring readiness and compliance across major incidents and business continuity. You will advise senior leaders, shape resilience plans, and drive preparedness across complex operations. This is a visible, fast-paced leadership position focused on cross-organisational collaboration and incident response. Responsibilities

• Lead the Emergency Planning, Resilience and Response function and act as the principal EPRR advisor to the Board
• Develop, implement and assure major incident, business continuity, surge capacity and resilience plans
• Oversee compliance with NHS EPRR Core Standards and statutory obligations
• Advise Executive Directors and operational teams; collaborate with system partners and Local Resilience Forums
• Provide expert input on preparedness, command and control, and incident response
• Lead EPRR training, exercising, policy development, assurance reporting and organisational learning
• Embed emergency preparedness across the Trust and maintain readiness for disruption and emergencies

Key requirements

• First degree (or equivalent senior experience)
• Recognised Emergency Planning and/or Business Continuity qualification
• Additional specialist training in emergency preparedness, resilience, crisis/disaster management, incident command, major incident management, CBRN/HAZMAT
• Evidence of continuing professional development and senior leadership training
• Experience in leading and managing EPRR
• Understanding of major incident management, surge planning, risk management, command and control, and business continuity
