Overview

In this role you will support the European Real Estate Debt Team to originate, structure, and close debt transactions. You will work closely with senior colleagues across the full loan value chain, from initial analysis to portfolio management, contributing to underwriting, documentation, and investor materials. You’ll build complex underwriting models and help maintain data and reporting for performance and strategy reviews. This is a hands-on, team-based role that offers exposure to cross-border real estate debt strategies and capital deployment.

Responsibilities

• Initial analysis, loan quote/term sheet preparation, due diligence, execution, documentation, closing of loans
• Production and maintenance of complex underwriting models across real estate asset classes
• Preparation of investment committee memos and transaction materials
• Collecting and maintaining loan portfolio data and documents
• Investor reporting and performance monitoring
• Preparation and updating materials for existing and new strategy presentations to potential investors
• Lead role under supervision in analysing, structuring, underwriting, preparing IC materials, executing and closing debt transactions
• Mentor and supervise junior team members
• Pipeline maintenance and discussions participation
• Provide input to operational support functions (loan, fund, portfolio performance, compliance)
• Build relationships with Nuveen Real Estate and TIAA across regions
• Contribute to marketing materials for debt platform to raise capital
• Maintain complete, well-ordered data and records for loans in portfolio
• Comply with governance, committee and risk management processes

Key requirements

• 3–8 years of relevant experience at an investment bank or buy-side real estate investment management (equity and/or debt)
• BSc, MSc or MBA with emphasis on finance or real estate
• Track record of real estate debt and/or equity transactions underwritten, structured, and closed in Europe
• Understanding of due diligence and legal documentation for non-recourse mortgage lending across European jurisdictions
• Experience with loan-on-loan / back-leverage topics considered beneficial
• Excellent quantitative analysis and financial modelling skills
• Microsoft Office proficiency (Excel, Word, PowerPoint)
• Interest or experience in VBA or Python considered a plus
