Manager Portfolio Management and Operations

Overview

In this role, you will support the Investment Planning team to shape and manage the Society’s strategic portfolio. You’ll work at the heart of the investment lifecycle, coordinating planning activities, prioritisation, and governance insights to inform decisions at Executive and Board level. You’ll translate portfolio data into clear recommendations, support senior governance forums, and manage in-year demand and change control to keep investments aligned with strategic objectives. This is a hybrid, 9-month secondment that offers exposure to cross-functional stakeholders and the opportunity to influence investment delivery.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate the investment planning and governance lifecycle to shape the portfolio
• Analyse portfolio, financial and planning data and produce clear insights and governance materials for Exec/Board
• Support senior governance forums by facilitating discussions and providing decision-ready input
• Manage in-year investment demand and change control, ensuring alignment with funding, capacity and objectives
• Maintain integrity of central change portfolio data and governance records for reporting and decision-making

Key requirements

• Experience in portfolio management, PMO, investment governance, finance, business planning or change management in a large, complex organization
• Proven ability to support investment planning, prioritisation or governance with multiple stakeholders
• Analytical skills to interpret complex data and translate into insights and recommendations
• Experience producing high-quality reporting, presentations and governance materials for senior leadership
• Excellent stakeholder management and ability to influence and challenge constructively
• Strong organisational skills and ability to handle multiple priorities under tight timescales
• Experience identifying and implementing process improvements to governance or planning processes
