Principal Program Manager

Overview

In this Principal Program Manager role, you drive and govern large, high-impact customer programs across the full lifecycle, coordinating executives, sales, services, and partners to deliver outcomes. You will align programs with strategic business goals, manage risk and delivery, and accelerate value realization for SAS Viya deployments. The role blends strategic direction with hands-on execution to improve adoption, reduce risk, and support revenue recognition. You’ll work with cross-functional teams to shape outcomes and ensure customer priorities guide the program.

Responsibilities

• Ensure program scope aligns with business objectives and refine strategic plans
• Plan and adjust schedules, scope, resources, and quality to meet demands
• Support contract negotiations and coordinate budgets, statements of work, and financial terms
• Maintain program documentation and communicate with teams and stakeholders
• Deliver deadline-driven programs and define scope, objectives, and technical requirements
• Monitor finances, budgeting, expenditures, and provide financial reporting
• Stay current through continuous learning and professional engagement
• Travel to customer sites as required
• Interface across the organization as the primary business and technical point of contact
• Perform additional duties and ensure security policies for secure software development
• Lead and manage multiple workstreams and mentor other program managers

Key requirements

• Program management experience, ideally in financial services, technology development, or technology adoption
• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in relevant field OR equivalent experience
• PMP or PgMP certification preferred
• Cross-divisional resource management, analytical and problem-solving abilities
• Strong leadership, stakeholder engagement, and conflict-resolution capabilities
• Advanced financial, strategic, and tactical decision-making skills
• Creative problem-solving for complex, multi-layered initiatives
• Strong communication, negotiation, facilitation, and presentation skills
