Our client a subscription based organisation based in London at the cutting edge of current thinking requires a Head of Finance to join their team. The organisation has a number of interesting projects currently working on with a wide consumer and business based client base.
The Head of Finance is the organisation’s senior operational finance leader, responsible for converting strategy into executable plans, reliable financial performance and sharp commercial insight. Reporting to the CFO, this role leads the transformation of day‑to‑day finance operations, ensuring the function is modern, scalable and fully aligned with organisational priorities.
This is a highly visible, hands‑on leadership position requiring strong commercial judgement, transformation capability, data‑driven analysis and the implementation of BI and AI tools. The Head of Finance will partner closely with the Executive Team and budget holders to enable timely, well‑informed decisions, supported by robust processes, high‑quality reporting and effective governance.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Leadership & Business Partnering
- Serve as the CFO’s primary partner on daily financial leadership, translating strategic objectives into clear financial plans, metrics and actions.
- Build strong cross‑functional relationships, ensuring finance is embedded in operational and strategic decision‑making.
- Provide constructive challenge and trusted commercial advice to the Executive Team, department heads and budget owners.
Financial Planning, Analysis & Insight
- Lead the annual budgeting cycle, rolling forecasts and multi‑year financial modelling, coordinating assumptions and accountability across the organisation.
- Establish and maintain financial and operational KPIs, integrating finance and non‑finance data to highlight trends, risks, opportunities and value drivers.
- Partner with commercial teams to enhance revenue forecasting, pipeline visibility, pricing, product and customer profitability, and ROI analysis.
Systems, Data & Finance Transformation
- Define and deliver a practical finance systems and data roadmap that improves accuracy, speed, control and scalability.
- Drive automation and continuous improvement across Finance and ensure seamless integration with wider business systems.
- Develop intuitive BI dashboards and reporting tools.
- Own finance data governance and embed AI tools to enhance efficiency and insight.
Management Reporting, Accounting & Control
- Lead end‑to‑end financial operations, management reporting and the control environment, implementing modern technology and approaches.
- Produce concise monthly management information and high‑quality quarterly Board and investor reporting, including internal Quarterly Business Review packs.
- Manage the annual audit and statutory accounts process, acting as the primary contact for external auditors and resolving issues promptly.
- Ensure compliance with accounting standards, Companies House and HMRC requirements, VAT and other tax obligations, escalating material matters to the CFO.
Cash, Treasury & Risk
- Own short‑and medium‑term cash‑flow forecasting, monitor liquidity and working capital, and ensure the organisation can meet operational and strategic commitments.
- Identify financial, commercial and control risks, maintain proportionate mitigations and provide early warning of emerging issues.
- Act as the link between Finance, operational teams and technology providers to ensure systems are well‑designed, adopted and fully utilised.
Skills & Experience
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent).
- Significant senior finance experience with ownership of management reporting, budgeting, forecasting, controls, audit and cash management.
- Proven leadership of finance teams and influence at senior stakeholder, Board or investor level.
- Strong commercial and analytical capability, including advanced modelling, scenario analysis and the ability to convert complex data into clear recommendations.
- Demonstrated success improving finance processes, controls and reporting through automation, BI or systems implementation.
- Advanced Excel skills and practical experience with ERP/accounting systems and reporting tools. Experience with Power BI, Power Query, SQL or similar technologies is highly advantageous.
