Portfolio Product Manager – Geospatial Applications

Company: Idox
Apply for the Portfolio Product Manager – Geospatial Applications
Location: Farnborough
Job Description:

This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced product leader with a strong track record of managing Product Owners and building robust, quantitative business cases to lead a portfolio of geospatial and environmental software products. You will be accountable for the overall vision, strategy, roadmap, and commercial success of a suite of geospatial software products, including rigorous cost/benefit analysis and investment prioritisation across the portfolio, covering groundMapper, CAMS, CMSi, and HBMSR, alongside other associated software solutions.

The role combines strategic product leadership with stakeholder engagement and portfolio coordination across multiple product teams. Reporting into this role will be a number of dedicated Product Owners, each responsible for the day-to-day delivery and backlog management of individual products. You will directly manage this team, setting objectives, providing regular performance feedback and coaching, and holding Product Owners accountable for delivery against agreed roadmaps and business cases.

You will work closely with customers, engineering, sales, marketing, operations, and senior leadership to ensure the products continue to meet market demands, deliver customer value, and align with wider business objectives.

We are looking to hire exceptional people who have the expertise and confidence to operate with a high degree of autonomy and leadership, including proven experience managing and developing Product Owners or similar product delivery professionals. The role requires strong communication, quantitative commercial and financial acumen — including building and defending cost/benefit cases and ROI models — strategic thinking, and the ability to balance customer needs with business priorities.

Although you will be expected to hit the ground running, Idox will provide the mentoring and development you need to succeed as a member of the team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Defining and maintaining the overall product vision, strategy, and roadmap across the portfolio
  • Ensuring alignment between product strategy, customer needs, and business goals
  • Identifying market opportunities and driving product innovation

Product Team Management

  • Directly managing a team of Product Owners responsible for individual products — setting objectives, conducting performance reviews, and coaching them in commercial and stakeholder skills
  • Holding Product Owners accountable for delivery, quality, and commercial outcomes, and providing direction, prioritisation guidance, and product governance across teams
  • Ensuring consistent product management practices across the portfolio
  • Supporting Product Owners in backlog prioritisation and roadmap planning
  • Understanding customer requirements, workflows, and market trends
  • Gathering and prioritising customer feedback to inform product direction
  • Working with stakeholders to define high-value features and enhancements
  • Conducting competitor and market analysis to support strategic decisions

Product Delivery & Collaboration

  • Collaborating with engineering, UX, sales, marketing, and support teams to deliver successful outcomes
  • Supporting Agile product delivery processes and release planning
  • Liaising with development teams to ensure product requirements are clearly understood
  • Supporting commercial teams with product positioning, demonstrations, and customer engagement

Commercial & Strategic Responsibilities

  • Owning quantitative cost/benefit analysis and ROI modelling to prioritise investment across the portfolio, and building the business cases, pricing strategies, and commercial plans that flow from them
  • Monitoring product performance against quantitative success metrics, and tracking realised benefits against the original cost/benefit case
  • Collaborating with other Product Managers to deliver wider divisional strategy
  • Supporting long‑term product lifecycle planning and investment decisions

To be successful, you should bring

  • 5+ years’ experience in Product Management within a software or SaaS environment
  • Experience managing multiple products or product portfolios
  • Proven experience directly managing Product Owners or similar product delivery professionals, including setting objectives and managing performance
  • Strong stakeholder management and communication skills
  • Commercial awareness and strategic thinking capability
  • Demonstrable experience building and applying quantitative cost/benefit analysis, ROI modelling, or business cases to prioritise product investment decisions
  • Strong written, listening, and presentation skills
  • Creativity, attention to detail, customer empathy, and problem‑solving ability
