The team you will join
Our Social Housing teams sits within our wider Real Estate Division and advises registered providers, local authorities, housebuilders and public sector bodies on the full lifecycle of affordable housing. The team is recognised nationally for its depth of expertise and its market leading presence across the Eastern Region, London and the South East.
With over 50 dedicated fee earners, including specialist partners and legal directors, the team acts for more than 100 registered provider clients and 30 local authorities, as well as many of the UK’s leading housebuilders. The team is known for handling sensitive and high-risk matters, including disrepair, building safety, anti-social behaviour and fire safety issues, alongside large-scale development and regeneration schemes.
The Social Housing team is highly regarded for its practical advice, strong client relationships and commitment to thought leadership, training and sector engagement.
The work you will be doing
As part of our continued growth strategy, we are looking to strengthen our Social Housing team in Bristol and are keen to hear from talented lawyers across a variety of levels, from Associate through to Legal Director.
Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to:
- Advise housing association and registered provider clients on a broad range of social housing matters, specifically defending disrepair claims, progressing possession and injunction proceedings for breach of tenancy and dealing with service charge disputes in the First-Tier Tribunal.
- Manage your own caseload and client relationships.
- Support complex and strategic projects within the sector.
- Work closely with colleagues across our various teams and sector groups.
- Play an active role in business development and client engagement initiatives.
- Contribute to mentoring and developing junior members of the team.
- Help shape the continued growth and success of our Bristol practice.

What we are looking for
We are interested in hearing from qualified solicitors who have experience in social housing or related practice areas and who are looking for their next career step.
You will ideally demonstrate:
- Strong technical and commercial legal skills.
- Experience advising clients within the social housing sector.
- Excellent communication and relationship-building abilities.
- A proactive and collaborative approach to client service.
- Strong organisational and matter management skills.
- A genuine interest in the challenges and opportunities facing the housing sector.
For more senior candidates, experience of developing client relationships, supervising junior lawyers and contributing to business development activities will be advantageous.
