Deputy Team Manager – Supporting Independence Team

Luton Borough Council is looking for an experienced Deputy Team Manager to join its Adult Social Care Supporting Independence Team (SIT) on a locum basis.

The Supporting Independence Team focuses on promoting independence and preventing, reducing or delaying the need for longer-term statutory care and support. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced Social Work professional looking to take on a leadership role within a strengths-based adult social care service.

The role:

• Support the Team Manager with the day-to-day management and oversight of the team.
• Provide professional supervision, guidance and support to Social Workers.
• Oversee complex cases and provide advice around risk, safeguarding and care planning.
• Ensure Care Act assessments, reviews and support plans are completed to a high standard.
• Promote strengths-based, preventative and person-centred practice.
• Support effective case management and ensure statutory timescales are met.
• Provide professional challenge and support to Social Workers where required.
• Work closely with health professionals, community services and other partner agencies.
• Assist with performance management, quality assurance and service improvement.
• Support the Team Manager with the development of the service and implementation of operational priorities.
• Deputise for the Team Manager when required.

Requirements:

• Social Work England registration.
• Social Work qualification.
• Significant post-qualified experience within Adult Social Care.
• Previous experience supervising or mentoring Social Workers.
• Experience of managing complex cases and safeguarding matters.
• Strong knowledge of the Care Act 2014 and strengths-based practice.
• Previous experience at Senior Social Worker, Advanced Practitioner or Deputy Team Manager level.
• Strong leadership, communication and decision-making skills.
• Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary environment.
