Site Engineer – Geotechnical

Overview

As a Site Engineer (Geotechnical) on a Plymouth-based contract, you ensure technical compliance and safe, quality-driven delivery. You’ll support QA processes, surveys, and field testing while addressing technical problems on site. The role sits at the intersection of geotechnical fieldwork and project controls, contributing to safe, timely project completion. This is an opportunity to shape on-site execution within a defense-focused program and collaborate with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the preparation of as-built drawings
• Help establish systems to record completed work and update the Project Quality Plan
• Develop quality check sheets and perform quality checks & surveys
• Assist with site safety, environmental, and quality inspections
• Manage systems to track progress against time, quality, dimensions, and quantity
• Record and test workmanship and materials (drilling, grouting, anchoring)
• Provide engineering support to resolve technical problems and respond to queries
• Set out works within allowable tolerances per site control

Key requirements

• Academic qualification Level 3 or above (HNC, HND, Degree)
• Proficiency in survey equipment (GPS, Total Station) for Setting Out & Survey
• Experience in geotechnical applications (drilling, grouting, anchor installation, inspection, testing)
• Awareness of commercial processes
• Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and ability to write RAMS
• Proven people and project management skills
• Good IT skills
• Flexibility to work weekends and out of hours on a rota
