Associate Director, Contract Management – Scientific Services

Overview

In this role you will oversee the end-to-end contract management and governance for Scientific Services, ensuring high-quality lab equipment maintenance, support, and waste services for internal customers. You will align objectives with laboratory leaders and supplier organisations, monitor performance, and ensure compliance with service agreements, SHE and GxP requirements. The position involves overseeing outsourced providers, driving process improvements, and shaping service delivery strategies. This is a hands-on, cross-functional role that links procurement, operations, and compliance to sustain reliable scientific services at AstraZeneca.

Responsibilities

• Governance of outsourced Scientific Services providers to match business needs
• Collaborate with AZ Procurement for commercial compliance and regulatory alignment
• Maintain contract records and perform quality management activities
• Provide strategic direction and targets for service providers
• Monitor contract implementation and ensure SLA and regulatory compliance
• Develop and implement service supply plans with key collaborators
• Lead contract review meetings and escalate supplier delivery issues
• Manage purchase orders, invoice reconciliation, and payment disputes
• Develop and maintain risk management and business continuity plans for the service group
• Contribute to Revenue and Capital budget development for Scientific Services
• Ensure alignment and engagement across the Scientific Services delivery chain and other AZ service functions

Key requirements

• Graduate calibre or equivalent experience
• In-depth knowledge of pharmaceutical operational needs
• Good working knowledge of the facility management industry
