Senior Transport Planner – Manchester

Overview

As a Senior Transport Planner in Manchester, you will deliver development-led transport planning solutions across private and public sectors. You’ll produce Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and EIA inputs, collaborating with clients, stakeholders and multidisciplinary teams. You will mentor junior staff and support business development through client engagements and proposal writing. You help integrate transport with sustainable development, influencing project outcomes and strengthening partnerships. This role combines technical delivery with cross-team collaboration in a forward-thinking consultancy.

Responsibilities

• Deliver Transport Assessments, Travel Plans and technical reports
• Apply transport modelling tools (TRICS, TEMPro, Junctions, LinSIG, Transyt)
• Interpret complex datasets to inform evidence-based recommendations
• Support client engagement and work-winning through fee submissions
• Mentor junior team members and collaborate within multidisciplinary project teams
• Contribute to sustainable transport strategies, considering environmental impacts
• Manage multiple projects and deadlines with a methodical, detail-focused approach
• Provide clear, concise, well-structured technical outputs

Key requirements

• Relevant industry experience in transport planning including TA and Travel Plans
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office; AutoCAD and GIS knowledge advantageous
• Degree (or Masters) in transport planning, civil engineering, geography or related field
• Professional accreditation (CIHT, CILT, TPP or ICE) desirable
