Project Engineer

Overview

In this role you ensure flawless delivery of the engineering work scope, meeting customer and regulatory requirements on time and within budget. You will work closely with design engineers, contractors, and clients to align HVAC designs with project goals, manage technical issues, and oversee commissioning and handover. The position focuses on safe, compliant, and quality-driven delivery across design, construction, and post-installation support. This is an opportunity to impact HVAC systems in complex settings through cross-functional collaboration and technical leadership.

Responsibilities

• Develop project schedules and milestones
• Coordinate with design engineers, contractors, and suppliers
• Review project scope against client requirements
• Attend project meetings and provide technical input
• Review and validate HVAC designs and drawings
• Ensure compliance with codes and specifications (e.g., Dw144)
• Approve equipment selections and submittals
• Resolve technical issues during design and construction
• Monitor installation activities for quality and safety
• Conduct site inspections and verify work against drawings
• Coordinate commissioning and testing of HVAC systems
• Ensure timely delivery of materials and equipment
• Maintain project documentation (RFIs, change orders, progress reports)
• Prepare handover documents and O&M manuals
• Track project costs and support budget control
• Report progress to stakeholders and escalate issues
• Communicate with clients to clarify requirements and expectations
• Provide technical presentations and updates
• Manage client feedback and ensure satisfaction
• Support post-installation troubleshooting and warranty issues

Key requirements

• Minimum HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering/Building Services
• Excellent knowledge in design and fabrication/assembly of packaged plant rooms
• Modular design and manufacture experience
• Awareness of industry standards and legislation including CE marking
• Customer facing with strong commercial awareness
• Understanding of requirements management and configuration/change management
• Ideally experience in HVAC design for bespoke mechanical equipment in Nuclear applications
