Mechanical Engineer

Overview

In this role you will support the delivery and coordination of mechanical installation packages on a major HS2 infrastructure project in West London. You will focus on ventilation shaft works, ensuring alignment with design, programme, quality and safety requirements. You’ll collaborate with project management, design teams, subcontractors and other disciplines to resolve on-site issues and drive successful handover. The position offers exposure to a high-profile project with opportunities for professional growth within a structured engineering team. This is a hands-on opportunity to shape critical ventilation infrastructure on a landmark scheme.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of mechanical packages across the HS2 project
• Oversee and support mechanical works associated with ventilation shafts
• Review mechanical drawings, specifications and technical information
• Coordinate mechanical works with other engineering disciplines and project teams
• Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, designers and site management
• Monitor installation progress, quality and compliance
• Assist with technical queries, RFIs and design coordination
• Identify and resolve technical issues on site
• Support testing, commissioning and handover activities
• Ensure works meet relevant standards and project requirements
• Maintain health & safety and quality standards throughout delivery

Key requirements

• Experience as Mechanical Engineer within construction, MEP or infrastructure
• Strong understanding of mechanical building services and installation
• Experience working from technical drawings and specifications
• Experience on large-scale infrastructure or major projects is advantageous
• Experience with ventilation systems, shafts or related installation is beneficial
• Strong communication and coordination skills
• Ability to work in a multidisciplinary project environment
• Relevant engineering qualification or equivalent experience
• CSCS/site-based certification
