Assistant Project Manager

Overview

In this role you support the delivery of projects within an Engineering Vehicles function, working closely with Project Managers and stakeholders to keep plans, budgets, risks, and governance on track. You contribute to continuous improvement and knowledge sharing while deputising for the PM when needed. You may visit depots and occasionally work night shifts to ensure milestones are met. This is a hands-on, independent role within a multi-disciplinary environment, offering impact across time, cost, quality, and scope.

Responsibilities

• Support the delivery of projects and work packages
• Assist with project planning, coordination and delivery activities
• Collaborate with Project Managers and stakeholders across the business
• Support reporting, risk and issue management, budget tracking and project governance
• Identify emerging issues and provide recommendations or escalate as required
• Monitor delivery against time, cost, quality and scope requirements
• Contribute to continuous improvement, knowledge sharing and best practice
• Deputise for the Project Manager when required
• Attend regular depot visits, with occasional night shifts possible

Key requirements

• Previous experience as an Assistant Project Manager
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Experience supporting project delivery in a complex or multi-disciplinary environment
• Strong project planning, coordination and organisational skills
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Collaborative and adaptable approach
• Knowledge of project management methodologies and project controls
• Degree or equivalent qualification is desirable
• Mechanical or Electrical Engineering background advantageous, other engineering backgrounds considered
