Plants Project Manager HVDC

Overview

In this role you will lead multidisciplinary Plants & Civil design efforts for HVDC converter station projects, aligning electromechanical, electrical, and civil teams with the wider project and company objectives. You’ll shape execution strategies from concept through energisation, coordinating across internal teams and external partners. Responsibilities

• Lead multidisciplinary Plants & Civil engineering teams delivering HVDC converter station projects
• Develop robust execution strategies covering concept to handover
• Manage scope, schedule, budget, resources, risks and change control
• Coordinate across electrical, civil, and plant disciplines and interfaces
• Lead technical reviews ensuring deliverables meet specs and standards
• Collaborate with Lead Engineer, Project Engineering Manager, customers, and contractors
• Monitor and report project performance, risks, and commercial impacts
• Manage critical interfaces with customers, subcontractors, suppliers, and partners
• Support tendering with execution strategies, schedules, and risk assessments
• Promote continuous improvement and adherence to engineering, quality, and safety processes

Key requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or related technical discipline
• Proven project management experience delivering HVDC or large-scale power infrastructure projects
• Experience managing projects through full lifecycle from concept to close-out
• Strong leadership of multidisciplinary teams across Civil, Structural, Electrical, Electromechanical, and Plant Engineering
• Technical understanding of substations, including transformers, switchgear, station auxiliary power, cables, earthing and lightning protection
• Experience delivering engineering deliverables, reviews, design approvals, and stakeholder engagement
• Knowledge of EPC/EPCM delivery methods, controls, budgeting, forecasting, risk, and change control
• Experience in transmission/renewable utilities or large-scale engineering environments is preferred
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management across global teams
• Fluent English (written and spoken)
