Senior Project Manager

Overview

In this role you will lead the end-to-end design delivery for Cardiff Crossrail within Amey’s Rail Design team. You will coordinate multidisciplinary outputs under NEC4, ensure on-time and on-budget delivery, and maintain strong client and stakeholder relationships. You’ll work closely with engineers, suppliers, and the client to shape a major tramway project that improves connectivity across Cardiff. Responsibilities

• Oversee delivery scope, schedule, budget, risk, and quality for the project
• Coordinate multi-disciplinary design outputs to meet time and budget targets
• Implement project controls and NEC4 reporting, handling early warnings and compensation events
• Manage supplier engagement and ensure contracts and purchase orders are in place
• Champion health, safety, and environmental standards across the project
• Lead stakeholder engagement, support strategic decisions, and resolve disputes
• Forecast and report financial performance, address risks to keep the project on track
• Coach and motivate the design team and attend client/supplier meetings

Key requirements

• Proven experience delivering complex rail infrastructure projects (station or footbridge context preferred)
• Strong knowledge and application of NEC4 contracts
• Demonstrated leadership of multi-disciplinary design teams and client interfaces
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management
• Track record in delivering compliant projects with statutory, legal, and contractual obligations
• Experience in financial forecasting, budgeting, and commercial reporting
