Business Development Manager

Overview

In this role you drive growth for a global engineering manufacturer across Southwest England and Wales. You’ll manage distributor relationships, engage end users, and identify new commercial opportunities, focusing on motors, gearboxes, drives, and automation. You work closely with customers to understand applications and offer technical solutions, supported by an established customer base. The position offers long-term progression within a global organization and is suited for a technically minded B2B sales professional who thrives in field-based, relationship-driven selling.

Responsibilities

• Manage and develop distributor accounts across Southwest England and Wales
• Develop relationships with key end users and identify new business opportunities
• Visit customers face-to-face and grow existing customer spend
• Understand customer applications and provide technical solutions
• Promote motors, gearboxes, geared motors, automation and related products
• Manage the sales pipeline, territory activity and customer relationships
• Conduct customer meetings and presentations

Key requirements

• Proven B2B sales or business development experience
• Technical or engineering background
• Strong relationship-building and customer-facing skills
• Commercially aware with strong communication skills
• Comfortable understanding customer applications and providing solutions
• Able to manage a territory autonomously
• Experience with motors, gearboxes, automation, drives, electrical products or industrial engineering advantageous
