Senior Software Engineer Full Stack in Cardiff

Job DescriptionAre you an experienced Senior Software Engineer or Technical Lead who enjoys remaining hands-on while guiding teams and shaping technical solutions?A leading specialist technical consultancy is looking for a Software Technical Lead to join a live Central Government project. You will work within a collaborative Agile team, building bespoke software that solves complex operational challenges.

What youll be doing

• Leading and supporting a team of software engineers
• Designing, developing and testing bespoke software solutions
• Providing technical direction and communicating clearly with clients
• Producing solution architectures and technical designs
• Building full-stack applications using Java, JavaScript, React and TypeScript
• Designing and deploying cloud-based solutions, primarily using AWSCreating continuous integration pipelines using tools such as GitLab
• Working across the full software development lifecycle, from requirements and architecture through to delivery, support and maintenance
• Deploying software into public and private cloud environments
• Promoting high standards of software quality, security and engineering practice

What were looking for

• Strong commercial Java development experience
• Good experience designing and building solutions in AWS
• Full-stack development experience using JavaScript, React and TypeScript
• Previous experience leading engineers or providing technical direction
• An understanding of software architecture and technical design
• Experience working throughout the full software development lifecycle
• Strong communication and stakeholder-engagement skills
• The ability to understand customer challenges and translate them into practical technical solutions
• Consultancy experience would be helpful, but it is not essential.

Security requirements

Due to the sensitive nature of the projects, the successful candidate must be able to obtain high-level UK security clearance.
