Senior Reservoir Engineer – Oil & Gas Exploration

About the Role

Our client seeks a highly accomplished Senior Reservoir Engineer to join their exploration and production team based in Randburg . This role is critical for evaluating hydrocarbon potential, optimizing production strategies, and managing reservoir performance throughout the lifecycle of oil and gas assets. You will employ advanced simulation techniques, data analysis, and economic evaluation to maximize recovery and ensure profitable resource development. The ideal candidate possesses deep technical expertise in reservoir characterization, fluid flow, and reservoir management, combined with strong analytical and communication skills, contributing to strategic decision-making within the energy sector.

Key Responsibilities

• Develop and maintain dynamic reservoir models using state-of-the-art simulation software.
• Analyze production data, well logs, and core data to characterize reservoirs and understand fluid behavior.
• Perform reservoir performance forecasting and economic evaluations for field development planning.
• Recommend optimal development strategies, including well placement, enhanced oil recovery (EOR) methods, and production optimization.
• Collaborate with geoscientists, production engineers, and drilling engineers to integrate reservoir insights.
• Prepare technical reports and presentations for management and stakeholders.

Requirements

• MSc or PhD in Petroleum Engineering or a related field.
• Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in reservoir engineering within the oil and gas industry.
• Expertise in reservoir simulation software (e.g., ECLIPSE, INTERSECT, Petrel RE).
• Strong understanding of reservoir characterization techniques, petrophysics, and sedimentology.
• Proficiency in reservoir data analysis, uncertainty assessment, and economic modeling.
• Excellent communication, leadership, and teamwork skills.
