Project Engineer – Chemical Plant

Our client is seeking a highly motivated Project Engineer to manage and execute capital projects for their chemical plant in Randburg . This role is responsible for the entire project lifecycle, from conceptualization and design through to commissioning and handover. You will ensure projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. This is a challenging and rewarding position for a skilled engineer looking to lead significant infrastructure developments in the chemical industry.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage multiple chemical plant projects simultaneously, overseeing all phases from initiation to closure.
• Develop project scopes, budgets, and detailed execution plans.
• Coordinate with internal engineering teams, contractors, vendors, and regulatory bodies.
• Ensure compliance with all project specifications, safety regulations, and environmental standards.
• Monitor project progress, identify risks, and implement mitigation strategies to ensure successful project delivery.
• Conduct technical reviews and inspections throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Chemical Engineering or Mechanical Engineering.
• Minimum of 6 years of experience in project management within the chemical or process industry.
• Proven experience managing capital projects, including P&ID development, equipment specification, and procurement.
• Strong understanding of chemical plant operations, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.
• Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera).
• Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
