Financial Controller – London Market MGA

I am partnered with my client, an ambitious and growing London Market MGA, on the appointment of a newly created Financial Controller. This is a hands-on role with responsibility for the day-to-day finance function and the opportunity to play an important role in the company’s continued growth.

The successful candidate will be an experienced insurance finance professional who understands the end-to-end finance lifecycle of an MGA, from premium and bordereaux through to claims, settlements, management accounts and regulatory reporting.

Key Responsibilities

• Prepare and oversee monthly management accounts, including P&L, balance sheet and cash flow
• Own the bordereaux accounting process, including premium and claims bordereaux, reconciliations and carrier/capacity provider settlements
• Oversee and process claims payments
• Manage premium accounting, commissions, fees and related settlements
• Prepare FCA regulatory returns and support regulatory capital requirements
• Oversee CASS 5 client money processes and reconciliations
• Maintain strong financial controls, balance sheet reconciliations and month-end processes
• Support statutory reporting, year-end audit, budgeting and forecasting
• Identify opportunities to improve and streamline finance processes as the business grows

About You

• Qualified professional (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
• Experienced within an MGA, Lloyd’s Coverholder, Broker or similar insurance environment
• Experienced in bordereaux and delegated authority accounting
• Comfortable managing claims payments and carrier settlements
• Experienced in preparing management accounts and FCA regulatory returns
• Familiar with the end-to-end insurance finance process, rather than solely general commercial accounting
• Comfortable working in a hands-on, growing and entrepreneurial environment
