Manufacturing Engineer (Composites) Gloucestershire Permanent position Aerospace/Advanced Manufacturing

THE ROLE

Manufacturing Engineer (Composites) This is a fantastic opportunity to join a stand-out aerospace engineering business as a Manufacturing Engineer in the development of aerospace components of a composite nature. As a Lead Manufacturing Engineer, you’ll need to possess both understanding of composites materials and their properties and also have a strong manufacturing background including process and quality improvements. You’ll need to be able to demonstrate key experience composite materials, with experience in carbon composites being highly desirable.

DUTIES

  • Support product design for manufacture as required.
  • Create Routings and BoM’s.
  • Develop Process Sheets as required for Standard Procedures.
  • Develop and implement quality control procedures and have an Inspection plan is in place.
  • Working with the Tooling Design team create the Tooling Concepts / Requirements.
  • Develop PFMEAs to identify and mitigate risks.
  • Review production data and recommend improvements in quality control and efficiency.
  • Support procurement with technical guidance.
  • Support BD with quotations (methodology and costings).

BACKGROUND

  • Experience of Composite manufacture and processing
  • Strong understanding of composite materials – particularly carbon fiber
  • Understanding quality control within aerospace.
  • Proficiency in CAD (Solidworks preferable)
  • Analytical thinking, problem-solving, and creativity.
  • Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing.
