We’re recruiting for a Transport Team Manager to join a successful and well-established foodservice wholesaler and distributor based in Berkshire.
This is a hands-on management role for an experienced transport professional who enjoys leading people, maintaining high standards and ensuring a busy delivery operation runs safely and efficiently.
The Role
You’ll be responsible for the day-to-day management of the transport team, working closely with drivers, planners, warehouse colleagues and management to deliver excellent service.
Key responsibilities include:
- Leading, motivating and supporting a team of drivers.
- Managing daily transport operations and resolving issues quickly.
- Monitoring driver performance, attendance, productivity and service levels.
- Ensuring compliance with transport legislation, health and safety and company procedures.
- Supporting route planning and efficient delivery operations.
- Coaching and developing team members.
- Monitoring transport KPIs and driving improvements where required.
- Working closely with other departments to maintain a smooth operation.
About You
We’re looking for a confident and organised transport professional with strong people-management skills.
You’ll ideally have:
- Previous experience in transport, logistics, FMCG, wholesale or distribution.
- Experience managing or supervising drivers.
- Good knowledge of transport compliance and operational procedures.
- Strong communication, coaching and problem-solving skills.
- The ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- A proactive, hands-on approach.
