Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will provide hands-on support across day-to-day H&S activities within a busy food manufacturing environment.
The role would particularly suit someone with around 1-2 years’ experience who wants to broaden their exposure across risk assessment, incident investigation, H&S systems and operational safety while continuing to develop professionally.
In your new role:
- Support the implementation and ongoing improvement of Health & Safety systems, policies and procedures
- Work with operational teams to ensure safe working practices are effectively implemented
- Assist with workplace and operational risk assessments
- Support accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including evidence gathering and reporting
- Track corrective and preventive actions through to completion
- Maintain accurate H&S documentation, investigation reports and risk management records
- Provide training and guidance on H&S systems and reporting processes
- Support the wider H&S team with site risk management activities
- Identify opportunities to continually improve H&S performance across the site
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Ideally a Certificate, Diploma or recognised qualification in Health & Safety – further qualification support may be available
- Approximately 1+ years’ post-qualification Health & Safety experience
- Practical understanding of workplace Health & Safety and risk management
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Good organisational skills and attention to detail
- Proactive approach to identifying and implementing improvements
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don’t worry if you don’t):
- Previous H&S experience within food manufacturing
- Experience within manufacturing, production or FMCG
- Practical exposure to accident and incident investigation
- Familiarity with electronic H&S or risk management systems
