Vickerstock are working in partnership with a leading food manufacturing organisation on the appointment of a Health & Safety Officer.
Reporting to the Health & Safety Manager, you will support the delivery of day-to-day H&S activities across a busy food production environment.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with early-career H&S experience to develop their practical knowledge across risk management, incident investigation, H&S systems and continuous improvement, with further education and professional development supported by the business.
In your new role:
- Support the coordination and implementation of Health & Safety activities across the site
- Assist with the development and improvement of H&S policies, procedures and management systems
- Support operational teams with risk assessments and practical Health & Safety requirements
- Assist with accident, incident and near-miss investigations, including evidence gathering and reporting
- Ensure corrective and preventive actions are appropriately recorded and implemented
- Maintain accurate H&S records, reports and risk management systems
- Provide training and guidance to employees on relevant H&S systems and processes
- Work with the wider H&S team to identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives
- Promote a positive and proactive Health & Safety culture across site operations
What you’ll need to succeed:
- Ideally a Certificate, Diploma or recognised qualification in Health & Safety – further qualification support may be available
- Approximately 1+ years’ post-qualification Health & Safety experience
- Practical understanding of workplace risk assessment and H&S management
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proactive approach with the confidence to identify areas for improvement
- Good IT skills, including Microsoft Office, Excel and PowerPoint
Desirable (it would be great if you have this, but don’t worry if you don’t):
- Previous H&S experience within food manufacturing
- Experience within manufacturing, production or FMCG
- Exposure to accident and near-miss investigation
- Experience using electronic H&S or risk management systems
