Trade Floor Application Support Engineer

Position: Trade Application Support Analyst – Trading Floor

Location: London City

Environment: Fast-paced, high-pressure front-office broking floor

Role Purpose

Provide hands-on, day to day 1st and 2nd line support for trading applications and core IT infrastructure. This role ensures the reliability, connectivity, and stability of electronic trading platforms used by traders and brokers across the full trade lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities

• Trading Application Support: Take daily operational ownership of front-office order management and execution systems (specifically Fidessa and Bloomberg).
• Application Administration: Manage user provisioning, access entitlements, and platform permissions; investigate and resolve stuck, rejected, or anomalous orders.
• Connectivity & Protocol Troubleshooting: Monitor and troubleshoot FIX-based order flow and market data sessions by interpreting FIX messages and session logs.
• Market Data & Vendor Relations: Act as the primary technical point of contact to resolve environment outages, liaising directly with external electronic exchanges, market data vendors, and clearing houses.
• Trade Lifecycle Coverage: Support cross-asset execution workflows (including Listed Derivatives, FX, and Fixed Income) from front-office execution through to downstream back-office booking systems.
• Desktop & Infrastructure Support: Maintain trading floor hardware, including desktop environments, dealer voice boards, and underlying Windows Server infrastructure.

Skills & Experience Required

• Systems Expertise: Proven hands-on support experience with Fidessa and the Bloomberg Terminal ecosystem.
• Technical Protocols: Solid understanding of the FIX protocol with the practical ability to parse and diagnose session-level logs.
• Asset Knowledge: Familiarity with listed derivatives (futures and options) alongside basic exposure to FX or Fixed Income products.
• Infrastructure Fundamentals: Strong desktop support skills backed by a solid understanding of Windows Server environments and networking basics.
• Environment: Prior experience working directly with traders or brokers in a high-pressure trading floor environment.
• Soft Skills: Calm under pressure, proactive problem-solver, and a strong communicator who takes absolute ownership of issues through to resolution.
