Robotics Software Engineer – C++ / ROS2 / Linux

Are you an experienced Software Engineer with strong expertise in C++ and ROS2, combined with a background in robotics and Linux environments? Are you based in the Cambridge area, or interested in joining one of the UK’s leading centres for robotics and technology innovation?

Our client, a UK-based robotics company, is hiring a Robotics Software Engineer based in Cambridge, UK, supporting operations across both UK and EU teams.

Key responsibilities:

• Design, develop, and test software systems for advanced robotic platforms using C++ & ROS 2.
• Collaborate with electronics, mechatronics, and research teams within an Agile development environment.
• Test, debug, and validate software performance and reliability.
• Provide on-site support for physical robotic systems, including occasional travel to field locations.

To be successful, you should have:

• 3 years of experience in an industry software design position.
• A degree (or Master’s) in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related discipline.
• Strong commercial experience with C++ (C++14 or later) and Linux.
• Extensive hands‑on experience with ROS2 (ROS1 knowledge also beneficial).
• Experience with robotics software development and integration.
