Job Description
Senior Civil Engineering Surveyor positions are now available with Bylor at Hinkley Point C. We are forming a new survey team to operate in parallel with our existing function and are looking for experienced surveyors to support the delivery of one of Europe’s largest and most complex civil engineering and nuclear projects.
Location
Unless stated otherwise, all positions are based at Hinkley Point C in Somerset.
Function
Civil engineering surveying involves the measurement, analysis, and design of land and structures. Surveying provides technical support and information used throughout all phases of the project. In this role you will establish and implement a comprehensive survey control network designed for this scope, ensuring precise and consistent measurements across all project activities.
Role & Responsibilities
- Report to Project Civil Surveyor
- Implement dimensional control
- Team management
- Quality assurance
- Survey data management and analytics
- Supply survey drawings and data
- Produce survey quality records
- Provide technical support
- Work both on site and in an office as required
- Utilise state‑of‑the‑art survey equipment and technology such as Leica TS16/MSc60 Robots, Leica RTC360, Leica GNSS or similar
- Use software including Civil3D, AutoCAD, Leica Infinity, Leica Cyclone3RD, MicroSurvey Star*Net, Microsoft Office, Excel
Essential Skills & Technical Knowledge
- 5+ years in a similar role
- Experience establishing survey networks
- Specialist engineering surveying skills
- Experience on large infrastructure projects
- Team management experience
- Experience with MicroSurvey Star*Net or equivalent
- Proficiency with survey hardware and software
- Strong numeracy and mathematical calculation ability
- Ability to understand and interpret data
- Logical and lateral thinking skills
- Advanced IT skills and confidence with new technology
- Problem solving and analytical skills
- Attention to detail
- Client interface and customer service skills
- Effective verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent organisational and time‑management skills
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Education & Qualifications
- Degree in Geomatics or Engineering Surveying (desirable but not essential)
- ICES/RICS membership (desirable but not essential)
- Technical qualifications required (NVQ/HNC etc.)
